Counseling Families

Description: Counseling Families provides the student insight into how to help in difficult family relationships. Numerous case studies are provided to aid in the study of Counseling Families. Each case study is from an actual situation in Dr. Rekers’ work with families.

The primary goal of this course is to teach students how to help navigate family issues. Additionally, the student is furnished numerous charts and lists to aid in the practical application of counseling families.

Note: This course leads to Advanced Certification in Child & Adolescent Therapy if the student completes this course along with the following courses:

  • Counseling Children
  • Counseling Youth
  • Counseling & The Search for Meaning

Note: This course leads to Advanced Certification in Domestic Violence & Intervention Therapy if the student completes this course along with the following courses and holds at minimum a Master of Arts degree:

  • Temperament Case Studies
  • Counseling for Substance Abuse & Addiction
  • Counseling for Problems of Self-Control
  • Counseling for Self-Esteem

The course materials will be shipped to the student’s address on file or you can request digital files.

Please note: The students completing advance courses must receive a grade of 80% or better for course credit to be applied toward an academic degree. Any grade transferred for an advanced course receiving a grade less than 80% will not qualify to be applied to the N.C.C.A. degree transfer program.
